He attended Pleasant View College, St. Olaf College, and Luther Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1925, and the same year was married to Esther Hagen.
He served pastorates at Columbus, Plaza, Minnewaukan, Manfred, Bowdon, and Sheyenne, ND and Oslo, MN. Survivors include his wife, four daughters, and three sons. Their son Paul served at 1st Lutheran in Minot. Their daughter Grace was a missionary to the Sudan.
