Severt and Julia Hukee taught school in Manfred in 1897 and 1898. This was after the Manfred School District and the St. Anna School district separated but before the school building was built. Classes were held at the home of O. K. Melby.

 

Julia Hukee was a sister of Malena (Mrs. John A. Johnson) of Manfred. Their first child Alma was born in Manfred Township.  They lived in a soddy on the Johnson farm. After their term in Manfred they moved to Winger, Polk, Minnesota where they raised their family of 8 children. Julia passed away in 1956 and Severt in 1960, both were buried in Winger, Polk, Minnesota.
