In 1917 Lars Hanson became the new manager of the Farmers Elevator in Manfred. They purchased the house just east of the church from Anna Lyken.
The county paper reported in June of 1918 that Lars was working on his dwelling, which had been the old Rognlie and Sorenson hardware store. He was tearing away the addition and preparing to move the main building to the lot north of Mrs. J. Ranum‘s house. That gives Mr. Hanson a fine location on the riverbank. In 1917 Mrs. Hanson was secretary of the Manfred Branch of the Red Cross. The group was very active.
Records indicate that Ongstad’s purchased that home in 1920, shortly after Oscar came home from the military and the two of them were married.
Hansons moved to Saint Anna Township in 1923 and lived there until his death in 1966.
