Emil managed the Farmers Union Elevator in Manfred from 1940 to 1952. They lived in the “elevator house”. Lena was a member of the local homemakers club and the Catholic women's guild. Claudia and Jerry attended elementary school in Manfred.

 

The above picture is of Lena and Claudia as they visited our Manfred gathering the summer of 2006.  Lena was living in Devils Lake at that time. Emil passed away in 1991. Lena passed away in 2011.

 

After the Schepp family left Manfred they moved to Michigan, North Dakota where Emil managed the Farmers Union Elevator and Lena worked in the local hospital as a nurses’ aid. They retired in 1974 and then moved to Devils Lake.  Emil died in 1991 and Lena in 2011.
