History of Business: The bar and café were run by Jake and Evelyn Schlenker. It was a popular stop for people who came to Manfred whether it was with a load of grain or to bring their children to school. Often people would stop for a visit when they came to the post office for their daily paper and the mail. Businessmen gathered there for coffee in the morning and afternoon; local people would stop for a game of cards or just to visit. Sunday after church it was a gathering place as well. It was a hub of activity of Manfred.
