Christ homesteaded in 1892 on land that later became part of the town site of Manfred.  The town of Manfred was a thriving community and it seemed the Soo Line would build their round house on his property. When the round house was built at Harvey, the prospect of Manfred becoming a large city diminished.

Mrs. Anna Roble was a charter member of Vang Ladies Aid.  She was born January 14, 1862 in Norway and came to South Dakota in 1897.  She married Christen O Roble in 1898 and for 25 years ran a boarding house at Manfred, Christian passed away in 1941.

On September 27, 1945 she was assaulted and was so badly injured that she was entered in St. Aloisius hospital in Harvey. She identified her assailant.  On Sunday morning, October 1, 1945 she passed away at the Harvey hospital. Pallbearers Ole Rudi, Even Ostrem, Ole Onstad, Oscar Melby, T.T. Jorstad, Halvor Olsen.
