On August 17, 1919 Olaus (Ole) Bråtvar married Charlotte Stokes Brecto, widow of Ole Brecto. She brought   6 children into this family ages 14 – 25.

Ole Bråtvar was a parochial school teacher in Manfred about 1925. Herbert Ongstad remembers the parochial school being held at the school near the Rogness farm during the summer. A parochial school was similar to our Bible School, but it was taught in the Norwegian language and lasted several weeks. Ole would go to other locations as well throughout the summer holding parochial schools. He emigrated from Norway in 1888, settling first in Wisconsin, and in about 1897 moved to North Dakota.

Ole Bråtvar was one of the two people (the other being the pastor) who gave a talk at S. H. Ongstad's Silver Anniversary in the Manfred Lutheran Church in 1929. The Bråtvars lived in Balfour, Bremen and also in Cathay, later settling in at New Rockford. He had a milk route using a one-horse buggy.
