In Norway Bård was a huntsman who worked on a farm under Alveskjær, Ombo, Rogaland, Norway. He and his wife had 10 children, 9 came to America. Bård worked very hard on the farm and was paid only 40 øre a day, equivalent to about $20 in 2019.
His wife Martha died in 1902. In 1903, when the kids were grown he rode over to Jelse, Rogaland, Norway and said goodbye. He then moved to America where he made his home with his son Theodore and wife Karina.
He died in 1920 at his son Theodore’s home. This farm later was Sam Natland's place, located north of Manfred.
