Loren Curtis Alveshere, son of Lena and Clarence, attended the Fram Country Grade School until going to Harvey High School. He graduated in 1960. Loren went to North Dakota State University, Fargo, and graduated in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Animal Science, while working in the cafeteria and the Meats Department of NDSU. While in Fargo, he met Kathleen Ann Garland. They were married June 25, 1966 in Fargo. Then she joined him in Postville, Iowa where Loren worked as a livestock buyer at Oscar Mayer Co.

 

Kathleen was born in Fargo and raised there. She attended Fargo schools, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1961. She also completed training at Interstate Business College in Fargo and was a stenographer at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Fargo. Kathleen also has interests in painting and designing including rosemaling and sewing. Her parents were Theodore Franklin Garland and Frieda Aroline Edinger Garland from the Carrington-Barlow area. Frieda graduated from New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo and was employed as a hairdresser before marriage. Theodore was in the gravel business for many years in Glyndon, Minnesota and invented the Garland Gravel Jig. Frieda Garland died in 1971 in Portland, Oregon and is buried at the Carrington Cemetery.

 

While Loren and Kathleen were living in Iowa, their son Thomas Brian was born, their second son is Michael Todd and their daughter, Sarah Kay. They lived in Postville, Iowa until April 1974. At that time, they packed up to move to the Clarence Alveshere farm where Loren had grown up. Loren has a grain and Livestock operation on the farm now. The children attended Harvey Public Schools. The family attends Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church and Kathleen belongs to the Manfred Homemakers group.    Source:  Growing With Pride
